The United Auto Workers threatened to expand its strike against Detroit༺’s automakers and GameStop named billionaire activist investor Ryan Cohen its chair and CEO. Here’s what investors need to know today.

1. UAW Threatens to Widen Strike on Friday

The United Auto Workers threatened to widen its strike against the Detroit “Big Three” automakers unless progress is made in negotiations, saying it would announce a new strike target at 10 a.m. on Friday. Shares of Ford (F) and Stellantis (STLA) were down about 0.3% in pre-market trading, while General Motors (GM) shares traded fractionally higher.

2. GameStop Names Cohen as CEO and Chairman

GameStop (GME) named Ryan Cohen as its CEO and chair, leaving the role of executive chair that the billionaire activist investor took after GameStop ousted its former CEO in June. Shares of 澳洲幸运5官方开奖结果体彩网:meme stock GameStop jumped 6% in pre-market trading.

3. Delta CEO Says Changes to SkyM𓆏iles Program Went ‘Too Far’

He said that Delta executives were listening to feedback and would announce some changes over the next few weeks. Shares of Delta traded nearly 0.5% higher in pre-market trading.

4. Powell to Lead Lineup of Fed Speakers

At 9 a.m. ET, Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee will give a speech before the Peterson Institute for International Economics, while Federal Reserve Board Governor Lisa Cook will talk at 1 p.m. ET at a banking forum and Richmond Fed President Thomas Barkin will talk at 7 p.m. ET.

5. US Second Quarter GDP Expected ꧟to Tick Higher

At 8:30 a.m. ET, revisions to the U.S. second quarter 澳洲幸运5官方开奖结果体彩网:gross domestic product (GDP) are expected to move its growth rate to 2.2%, up from the initial report of 2.1%. Also at that time, initial jobless claims are expected to increase to 214,000 for the week ending Sept. 23, up from 201,000 the prior week. At 10 a.m. ET, a report on pending home sales for August is expected to show they fell 1% after a 0.9% increase in July.
