Amazon (AMZN) is expanding its ecosystem of services with the launch of an end-to-end 澳洲幸运5官方开奖结果体彩网:supply chain service for third-party se𝓀llers 🍬called "Supply Chain."

Key Takeaways

  • Amazon rolled out an end-to-end supply chain service for sellers called Supply Chain.
  • Amazon said Supply Chain could help sellers more quickly and reliably move products from manufacturers to customers.
  • Supply Chain's launch comes as e-commerce and retail giants including Walmart also compete to offer fulfillment and distribution services for sellers.
  • If Supply Chain manages to mirror the success of AWS, it could become a major money maker for Amazon, Wedbush analysts suggested.

Building on Amazon's existing logistics network and seller services, Amazon said that its Supply Chain services could help sellers ship products more quickly and reliably, by leveraging its advanced machine learning and supply chain optimization capabilities.

Amazon's new Multi-Channel Distribution (MCD) service, which is expected to be available to all sellers later this year, can also help sellers move products from Amazon Warehousing and Distribution (AWD) to any sales channel from online stores to 澳洲幸运5官方开奖结果体彩网:brick-and-mortar shops from a single 澳洲幸运5官方开奖结果体彩网:inventory pool, in a move that Amazon 💃claims could help sellers with in𝔍ventory management.

Amazon Raises Stakes in Competition

Supply Chain's launch comes as other 澳洲幸运5官方开奖结果体彩网:e-commerce and retail giants including Walmart also compete to offer third-party sellers fulfillment and distribution services.

Highlighting discounts for sellers that choose to use its services, Amazon said its updated prices would reflect discounts of up to 25% on all cross-border transportation bound for its AWD, and the ability to store products with AWD in bulk at discounts of up to 80% compared to Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) storage fees.

Supply Chain Playbook Mirrors That of Money Maker ဣAWS

Supply Chain is not the first instance of Amazon monetizing its existing infrastructure to expand its services for businesses. 澳洲幸运5官方开奖结果体彩网:Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a cloud computing platform that was initially developed to support the e-commerce site, but is now a major profit driver for the company. In the second quarter of 2023, Amazon reported $22.1 billion in AWS sales, a 12% year-over-year increase.

“Amazon is replicating the AWS playbook by broadening the availability of its fulfillment network,” Wedbush analysts said, calling Supply Chain “another example of Amazon's ongoing platform democratization, enabling monetization of incremental eCommerce and retail transactions by leveraging existing infrastructure.”

If Supply Chain manages to mirror the success of AWS, it could become a major money maker for the company, Wedbush analysts suggested.
