Comcast Corp. (CMCSA) reported third-quarter earnings that beat analyst predictions due to st♏ronger theme park revenue and subscriptions for its Peacock streaming service even as the company posted anothဣer quarter of declining broadband subscriptions.

Comcast's net income for the quarter was $4.04 billion or 98 cents a share. Adjusted for special items, net income increased 6.2% year-over-year to $4.48 billion, or $1.08 per share. That's higher than the $3.93 billion, or 95 cents a share, analyst consensus compiled by Visible Alpha. Revenue also increased less than a percent to $30.11 billion for the quarter as the COVID-related boom in broadband business has continued to ease.

Peacock was a bright spot for Comcast, adding 4 ♔million subscribers in the quarter and taking the total to 28 million paid customers, roughly 80% higher than a year ago. Higher pricing for t🎐he streaming service also boosted revenue to $830 million, a 64% increase from the prior-year quarter.

Revenue from theme parks rose to $2.42 billion, up 17.2% from a year ago due to gains from its Super Nintendo World attraction, even as its Orlando park struggled. Despite the box-office success of Oppenheimer—the highest-grossing biopic of all time with $900 million in ticket sales—Comcast's theatrical revenue took a hit on account of tepid performance from the latest movies in the Minions and Jurassic Park franchises. The company's content revenue for the quarter was also impacted by the Writers Guild and Screen Actors Guild strikes.

Comcast has lost broadband customers in recent months due to a shift away from work-from-home setups and to increasing competition from other providers. In the third quarter, the company reported a decline of 18,000 subscribers. However, the trend doesn't hold industrywide: 澳洲幸运5官方开奖结果体彩网:Verizon announced this week that it added 434,000 net broadband customers in the last quarter. It could be that Comcast's price increases for its broadband service, a bid to offset slowing subscriber growth, have prompted customers to look for other providers. On the other hand, Comcast's wireless services have seen strong subscriber growth with🍒 roughly 294,000 net line additions.

Comcast shares sank nearly 6% in early trading Thursday, but are up about 28% 🦩in the🔯 past year.
