Meta Apologizes Following a Report of Graphic Reels on Instagram

“We have fixed an error that caused some users to see content in their Instagram Reels feed that should not have been recommended," a Meta spokesperson told Investopedia. "We apologize for the mistake”

Reels are Instagram's short-form videos, which compete with TikTok.

The Wall Street Journal first reported the videos, which it said was recommended on some users’ Reels tabs. According to the report, view counts on some of those videos, which didn’t all include a “sensitive content” warning,” had “massively boosted their viewership.”

The Journal cited an Instagram spokesman as saying the videos weren’t related to the company’s moves to end third-party 澳洲幸运5官方开奖结果体彩网:fact-checking programs on its platforms last month. Facebook, Instagram and Th♊reads have moved to a community notes model, relying on contributing users to flag misinformation.

Meta shares are little changed in intraday trading Thursday and have gained nearly 40% in the past 12 months.
