With the Department of Justice's recent antitrust victory over Google and its online advertising practices ruled monopolistic, the breakup of the biggest technology companies in the world seems like a real possibility. But, as William Kovacic, former Chair of the FTC and now a Professor of Law and Global Competition at The George Washington School of Law explains, the cases against these giants can take many years to resolve, and enforcement is becoming more complicated in the era of A.I. Plus, sentiment has shifted back to the bulls as old leaders take the reins and the market erases most of its recent losses.
