Anthropic, an artificial intelligence (AI) company that has raised billions from technology giants like Alphabet's (GOOGL) Google and Amazon (AMZN)⭕, released the most advanced version of its Claude chatbot Thursday.

The company said the newest model, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, performs at a level on par or better than the newest versions of other AI chatbots like ChatGPT from Microsoft (MSFT)-backed OpenAI and Google Gemini across a number of different categories and benchmarks, and is twice as fast as previous Claude models.

Sonnet is the name given to Anthropic's middle-tier Claude model, along with the lower-end Haiku and higher-end Opus.
