Its performance especially picked up through the first half of summer this year, but has since given back some of those gains. On Oct. 20, 2021, the FDA amended its EUA for Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine, approving it for use as a single booster dose at least 6 months after the first initial doses for the following individuals: those 65 years of age and older; those aged 18 to 64 at high risk of severe COVID-19; and those aged 18 to 64 with frequent institutional or occupational exposure to the virus.
