They were among the hottest consumer items of the pa꧅st year. But now, millions of Stanley cups are being recalled because of potential burn hazard.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Thursday reported that 2.6 million of the Stanley Switchback and Trigger Action travel mugs sold in the U.S. are being recalled because "lid threads can shrink when exposed to heat and torque, causing the lid to detach during use, posing a burn hazard."

The CPSC sa✨id the affected double-walled mugs come in a variety of colors and 12-, 16-, and 20-ounce sizes with a pol🥀ypropylene lid. The Stanley logo is on the front and bottom.

Officials noted that Sta♑nley has received 91 reports worldwide of the mugs’ lids detachไing, resulting in 38 burn injuries, with 11 users requiring medical attention. Of the reports, 16 were in the U.S., with two burn injuries.

The CPSC warned consumers to 🦩immediately stop using the mugs and contact Stanley for a free replacement lid shipped at no charge.

Stanley is a brand of Pacific Market International, or PMI Worldwide, a subsidiary of the HAVI Group, which purchased it in 2021.
