Toyota Motor North America, Inc. announced an agreement with Tesla to adopt NACS on its battery electric vehicles (BEVs) starting in 2025. Toyota and Lexus drivers will have access to 12,000 Tesla superchargers via the deal. The company said its new electric SUV will be equipped withღ the new c𓄧harging standard.
Under the agreement, Toyota's vehicles will be able to access a network of 84,000 charging ports across North America. Customers who already drive a Toyota or Lexus with the Combined Charging System (CCS) will be offered an adapter to enable NACS charging. The CCS standard was introduced in 2011, but NACS has proven to be more reliable and faster, allowing EVs to go from near empty to 80% charged in around 20-30 minutes.
