President Donald Trump has kicked off a four-day regional visit to the Middle East, starting with Saudi Arabia, reportedly with a focus on striking dozens of business agreements.
Trump posted on his Truth Social platform early Tuesday morning: "Just landed in Saudi Arabia!”
Trump is looking to secure $1 trillion in investment and trade pledges from Saudi Arabia, and the U.S. is preparing to announce a deal that could give the Middle Eastern nation greater access to advanced semiconductors, Bloomberg reported.
The president is also set to visit Qatar and the United Arab Emirates as part of the trip. The White House didn't immediately respond to a request for comment on the Middle Eastern trip deals.
Trump Administration Plans to Use Qatari Jet for Air Fo♋rce One
The visit comes as the Trump administration is preparing to accept a superluxury Boeing (BA) 747-8 jumbo jet from the royal family of Qatar as a gift to be used by Trump, according to an earlier NBC News report.
Trump had posted late Monday on his Truth Social platform that “the Defense Department is getting a GIFT, FREE OF CHARGE, of a 747 aircraft to replace the 40 year old Air Force One, temporarily, in a very public and transparent transaction."
"Any gift given by a foreign government is always accepted in full compliance with all applicable laws. President Trump's Administration is committed to full transparency,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement. A person familiar with the White House told Investopedia Qatar had offered to donate a plane to the Department of Defense, but the gift won’t be presented nor accepted this week in the Middle Eastern nation.
